April 16

Today would be the only day of the semester where my Accounting class didn’t get out early. I missed the first five innings so I just feel worthless.

Bottom of the six: I think that Duncan’s error will only fuel talk about how he shouldn’t play and all that stuff. But, he’s still my number two. Anytime the bases are loaded, I get worried. And the innings over with a catch from Duncan. Even I would have been mad if he had missed it.

I’ve probably mentioned this before, but I like Thurston’s hustle.

Doesn’t understand why so many pitchers intentionally walk Pujols when they don’t need to. I’d pitch to him right now. However, I would have intentionally walked him Saturday after he hit that grand slam. But, that’s just me.

Yadi’s been hitting great this season!

I really need to find someone to watch baseball with or I just need to watch it alone.

I’m pretty sure when I played grade school softball they taught that when we catch a ball in our glove, we use the free hand to trap it in the glove so it doesn’t fall out. Maybe Albert Pujols missed that lesson.

I really hate the chin beard that I’ve noticed on a lot of players. It’s just not attractive.

What do a polar bear on the pill and the World Series have in common?

No Cubs.

Jackie Robinson Day

Italian tutoring was canceled today which means I get to watch the whole game. I’m happy that Rasmus is starting again, can’t wait to buy a Rasmus t-shirt when I get back home.

Maybe our revised pitching staff won’t melt down this weekend in Chicago.

As I went on a snack run with my roommate bottom of the first/top of the second, I mentioned to her that all the players were wearing the same number for Jacking Robinson Day. Then, when FSN showed Duncan in the dugout, she does, “Duncan changed his number?” This comment was followed by a “Why did that guy just stop?” right after the announcers said that it was a ground rule double.

Great double and RBI from my number one.

Top of the fifth: Number one and number two both got a double, which makes me happy! Also knowing more about the team makes me feel superior to others.

“Forget about pitchers, they don’t count” Oh, Al.

Was talking to my dad during the D-back’s explosive 3rd inning he sums up my thoughts about the matter with his quote, “Dammit!”

After Ludwick’s homerun, genius said, “Isn’t that like his 13th this season?”

Got back from dinner and the Cards scored some more runs. My only complaint about this game is it feels like it is taking forever.

And Cards win!

April 14

My musings from the game since none of my college friends are baseball fans.

Not too worried about Carp because the rest of our starting pitchers have been doing pretty well.

When the FSN promo for tomorrow night’s game comes on, at the end sounds an awful lot like “Cards vs. D-Bags”

Somehow, I didn’t save this entire post, so that’s it. Didn’t watch the end of the game because I was too tired. Different time zone plus extra innings don’t work well with an early morning class.

Rankings

The other day I was discussing with my cousin our favorite Cardinals. We both have them ranked based mostly on looks and talent. So here’s my list:

  1. Colby Rasmus: He’s good-lookin’ and he’s got talent. I love outfielders and he’s in his early twenties. Number one draft pick and he’s doing pretty good.
  2. Chris Duncan: When I told my cousin, she asked what it was based on because I guess he doesn’t meet her requirements of looks and talent. I’ve been a Duncan fan since he started here (as I sit here in my Duncan shirt). So he’s not the most attractive player or the best player. But he’s got a great *** and first base is his original position.
  3. Todd Wellemeyer: Didn’t know he was a looker until I saw him at a game last year. So that’s why he’s on the list. Hopefully he’ll have a good season.
  4. Skip Schumaker: That smile!
  5. Adam Wainwright: I’ve love him since 2006, playoff beard and all. No matter how he does with starting pitching, I will never forget when he closed that final World Series game.

So there’s my top five Cardinals.

April 13

So I read this “25 Ways To Tell if You’re a St. Louis Cardinals Fan” and decided I didn’t fully agree with everything. So here’s the list: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/150420-25-ways-to-tell-if-youre-a-st-louis-cardinals-fan, and my opinion here:

  1. Not even all of my Cardinals clothing is red. I can’t help that I’m Irish and like the color green.
  2. If you continue to read my blog, you’ll learn that I’m not a huge Pujols fan.
  3. Nope.
  4. I never really “booed” them, but I have given up on the game when the bullpen starts pitching.
  5. I make fun of Cubs fans for whatever reason I can think of.
  6. I’ll take Rick Ankiel in the outfield. He’s doing just fine there. Maybe if it doesn’t work out, he can try pitching again.
  7. And Mark Mulder’s. But I don’t think Mulder will ever come back.
  8. Never checked out Pujols’ pinkie finger.
  9. Well, I’m only agreeing because that’s today’s lineup and Ludwick just hit a double. So I’ll say it works.
  10. And Fredbird’s eaten my head.
  11. Wasn’t alive then.
  12. It does suck that everyone’s color is red.
  13. I just might have given up on the Rams, period. But, I’ll stick with the Cardinals through thick and thin.
  14. I don’t have a second favorite team.
  15. Well, I skipped work for the World Series Parade in 2006 and I’m sure I’ll skip class at least once this semester if I really want to watch a game.
  16. False. As soon as Edmonds decided on the Cubs, I turned my back. I used to call him Jimmy, but some things are just unforgivable.
  17. Any Busch Stadium is better than the “new” Yankee Stadium.
  18. I’m sure he could if he tried.
  19. I don’t have a fantasy team. But, I play to win and am not a fan of hot peppers, so I might draft a Cub.
  20. Of course. Although I wouldn’t mind going to a game at their stadium because it’s super cheap.
  21. On a weekly basis during the football season.
  22. I disagree with some of the things he does, but he’s the Major League Manager, and I’m the college student.
  23. A dream come true!
  24. Duh!
  25. Always.
